Nursing Home Quality Initiative: Volunteers Needed
Are You Interested in Helping to Improve Nursing Home Care in Ireland?
Are you passionate about wanting to see nursing homes evolve from this Covid tragedy stronger, more compassionate and more responsive to the needs of our older people and their families in the years to come?
The Nursing Home Quality Initiative (NHQI) is a voluntary group of relatives and friends of nursing home residents working for systemic change and improvement in nursing home services. As a group, we bring a service user perspective to our work as we actively monitor the many reviews and reports on nursing home affairs and engage with providers and official bodies. This also involves reviewing relevant research and publications, including best practice in other jurisdictions.
We are looking for volunteers who feel that they can contribute to this work. Are you that person?
You will be involved in one or more of the following areas:
- sharing your knowledge of nursing home conditions, care standards and quality of life;
- networking with relatives, service providers and advocates, and liaising with other key stakeholders and the media;
- monitoring media coverage, official reports and tracking reform proposals; and
- supporting the NHQI vision for the reform of nursing home services, regulations and standards.
If you join our volunteering effort, the time commitment would be approximately two to four hours in a typical week. The Group meets weekly online.
