The Irish Cancer Society are looking for volunteers to help out in its charity shop in Castlebar. Tasks include working on the shop floor and sorting room, maintaining shop floor standards, serving and interacting with customers, hanging, tagging and steaming clothes in the sorting room. If you’re interested in helping out, and you have three hours or more to spare each week, we’d love to hear from you. We’ll provide you with full training, so no prior experience is needed.
We particularly need help in the morning on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday and in the afternoon on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
To apply, call shop manager Anne on 094 9038923.
Covid Update: Our charity shops have reopened and are operating under strict health and safety guidelines to protect the health and well-being of our customers, volunteers and staff. Opening hours in each shop will be from 10.30am to 4.30pm to allow for extensive cleaning and sanitisation. All volunteers will receive a Covid19 induction briefing and are expected to comply with any health and safety measures in place in the their local shop to help prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Those who are in the Very High Risk category are asked not to engage in face-to-face volunteering with the Society at this time, until Government guidelines change. Current guidelines recommend that people in the Very High Risk category cocoon. The Irish Cancer Society deeply values the contribution that volunteers make, and look forward to welcoming applications from those currently cocooning for face-to-face volunteering opportunities when guidance and risk circumstances change.
Our shops are currently closed due to Level 5 restrictions. However, we are still encouraging applications from those interested in volunteering when we reopen. To register your interest, email Mary Quinn at firstname.lastname@example.org stating which shop you are interested in volunteering with. Thank you.
