Abbey Kids Community Childcare Service: Board Members
Abbey Kids Community Childcare Service CLG is a charity which runs a quality childcare service at affordable rates. The service is based in Kilmallock, County Limerick, and provides pre-school and school age childcare for up to 70 children. The service is run by the service manager and childcare team who are qualified to a high standard and have many years’ experience in childcare.
The service operates in two buildings and has two pre-school rooms and two after school rooms, with plans to turn another room into a sensory area. There is a large outdoor area with a playground and a basketball yard. It also has a natural garden and an outdoor covered mud kitchen area.
Abbey Kids is funded through a combination of the Department of Children and Youth Affairs Childcare Funding Programmes and parental fees, and is governed by a voluntary board. The board makes sure that the service is run well and that the funding is used appropriately. It makes decisions about future direction and staffing and guides and supports the service manager. The board meets monthly (currently by Zoom) for 1 – 1 ½ hours with some liaison between meetings as necessary.
In order to secure the long-term future of the childcare service, the board would like to increase its members. Knowledge in any one of the following areas would be particularly welcome: administration; financial management; human resources; managing a small business; or premises management.
A Zoom meeting will take place on Wednesday 21 October for anyone who would like to know more about the service and what is involved in being on the board. If you would like to attend, please contact Sheila Cahill at firstname.lastname@example.org for further details.
If you would like to apply, please send an email expressing your interest and outlining your relevant skills and experience to email@example.com.
