Voluntary Service International (VSI): Communications & Marketing Officer
VSI is seeking a volunteer Communications & Marketing Officer, to work with our small staff and volunteer team based in Dublin city centre. This is an EU-funded (European Solidarity Corps) volunteer position for an 18-30 year old, starting in November for 12 months.
VSI is the Irish branch of Service Civil International (SCI), a worldwide peace movement that began in 1920. We work to promote peace, social justice, sustainable development and intercultural understanding. We do this through volunteering activities internationally and in Ireland and through non-formal educational activities.
The volunteer will work in a supportive role on the marketing and promotion of VSI’s programmes including maintaining VSI’s social media and website, producing our newsletter, volunteer recruitment, attending fairs, delivering presentations and non-formal workshops on VSI’s opportunities and peace, social justice and development education, membership development and maintaining and developing VSI’s photo library and archive.
The volunteer will attend an international meeting in Europe with our organisation as well as workshops and webinars/seminars in Ireland. Our volunteer projects cover a wide range of topics including peace and human rights education, environmental conservation/climate justice and supporting refugees and asylum seekers; the volunteer will learn about these subjects and more. They will be immersed in VSI’s activities and will gain insight and experience of working with a national and international national NGO.
Funding for living expenses will be provided plus mentoring support for the volunteer’s personal and professional development.
No skills or experience are required. This role would suit someone who is interested in working in marketing and who has an interest in international relations, development education, international youth work or human rights.
