Oxfam Ireland: Shop Volunteers

Then why not volunteer in your local Oxfam Ireland shop!
Oxfam Ireland’s network of shops play a vital role in supporting their work in some of the world’s poorest countries, helping people to lift themselves out of poverty and thrive as well as saving lives when disaster strikes. They are run by enthusiastic teams of volunteers who assist in daily shop operations and currently Oxfam are seeking volunteers for their shops right across Ireland.
Minimum time commitment: Minimum of four hours per week - after this people can lend as much time as they wish for morning or afternoon shifts.
Application process: Informal visit, application form and references
Expenses: Local travel costs from your home to and from your shop will be reimbursed and lunch expenses can be claimed when you volunteer more than five hours in a day
Full training & support is provided and includes:
- Manual handling
- Health and safety
- Pricing and stock processing
- Point of sale system
- Customer service training
- Oxfam Ireland policies and procedures
- Overview of Oxfam Ireland
Some duties may include:
- Replenishment and rotation of stock
- Pricing, labelling and processing of stock
- General housekeeping
- Receiving donated items
- Greeting and interacting with customers
- Dealing with customer queries
- Till duties and cash handling
- Promote shop initiatives in store and online
People interested in lending some time can pop into their local Oxfam shop and let the manager know. Oxfam shops are a hive of activity with lots of opportunities to meet new people, learn new skills, and of course, have plenty of fun along the way. By giving a little of their time, each volunteer makes a huge difference in support of some of the most at-risk communities in the world - changing lives and working towards a fairer and more sustainable world for everyone.
