Training Opportunities for Practitioners in the field of addiction

Gambling Awareness Trust has collaborated with Cuan Mhuire and Tabor Group to design and deliver CPD training in Gambling Addiction to support those working in the field of addiction to increase their knowledge and skills in working with individuals affected by problem gambling and gambling addiction.

These courses are open to qualified Counsellors and Psychotherapists and student places are subsidised to encourage students to increase knowledge, skills, and qualifications with the aim of improving service delivery across the country in addressing problem gambling.

The Certificate in Continuing Professional Development in Responding to Problem Gambling is specifically designed to equip a wide range of addiction counsellor/psychotherapists, drug and alcohol treatment professionals, mental health and social care professionals and volunteers with the knowledge and skills to help and support those affected by problem gambling in Ireland. The course will be delivered wholly online including online interactive webinars and interactive online workshops.

The Certificate in Gambling Addiction is a 10 credit, level 8 special purpose award involving a single module (Recognising and Responding to Problem Gambling: Contemporary Approaches) delivered over eight weeks (see more details under the section 'Duration' below) using a blended learning approach (online and face-to-face). The programme is a collaborative development between Munster Technological University and Cuan Mhuire/Galilee House of Studies.
