How to recruit new Board Members – Online
(10am to 12.00pm – Thurs, 25th Mar 2021)

This online workshop provides Board Members and Staff working in community, voluntary and charitable organisations with a step-by-step approach to recruiting new Board and Committee Members. As one of the most common challenges in not-profit organisations today, this is an essential workshop for new and established organisations alike. Session delivered via Zoom. Fee for non-profits = €70.

The Role of the Chairperson – Online
(10am to 12.00pm – Thurs, 15th Apr 2021)

The online workshop will examine the role and responsibilities of the chairperson of a non-profit organisation. Topics covered during this workshop include; boundaries and critical relationships, developing a culture of transparency, accountability and integrity, managing board meetings effectively, ensuring suitable board renewal takes place and compliance and regulatory requirements of boards. Session delivered via Zoom. Fee for non-profits = €70.

The Charities Governance Code – Online
(10am to 12.00pm – Thurs, 13th May 2021)

The Charities Governance Code explains the minimum standards you should meet to effectively manage and control your charity. This workshop will walk you through the requirements of the code including actions and evidence needed to demonstrate compliance. If your organisation has already started or completed the Governance Code for Community, Voluntary and Charitable organisations, it will help you to use the evidence you already have to comply with the new Charities Governance Code. Session delivered via Zoom. Fee = €70 per person for non-profits.

Introduction to Group Facilitation Skills for Online Meetings
(4 weekly sessions starting 14th May 2021, from 10am to 12pm)

This short course introduces the Five Fundamentals of Group Facilitation and demonstrates their function and value to help you effectively, and gracefully, lead your group sessions online.
This course will be delivered via Zoom over 4 weekly sessions, detailed below. Fee for non-profits = €140.

Public Relations Basics – Online

The course aims to help organisations to enhance their profile using basic public relations tools. The training includes practical exercises and hands-on support in enhancing your organisation's public relations output. This online course is for staff and volunteers who are responsible for communications in their non-profit organisation. Session delivered via Zoom. Fee for non-profits = €70.

Managing Online Events – Online
(10am to 12.00pm – Thurs, 27th May 2021)

This online course is for staff and volunteers who are responsible for running events and want to make the move to managing events online, whether it’s a panel discussion, webinar, fundraising event or training session. Session delivered via Zoom. Fee for non-profits = €70.

New Options for Funding – Online
(10am to 12.00pm – Thurs, 3rd June 2021)

Course material will include new ways of fundraising in 2021 as a result of the changes brought by Covid-19 and digitization: building support from your community, adjusting your organization to survive and develop, digital fundraising, how to make effective applications for funds, up-to-date information on grant and loan sources for the development of community wellbeing, social, community, health, enterprise, educational, arts and other objectives. This course is aimed at board members, managers and all those with responsibility for the financial viability of their voluntary organisations. Session delivered via Zoom. Fee for non-profits = €70.

Board Roles & Responsibilities – Online
(3pm to 6pm – Wed, 16th Jun 2021)

This session will demystify Boards members' roles and responsibilities and give you tools to enhance your contribution and the effectiveness of your Board. It outlines the purpose of the board as a whole in relation to governance and management. We then examine the specific roles of individual board members and in particular, their legal responsibilities and duties under the Charities Act (2009) and the Companies Act (2014). The workshop will finish with a discussion on typical problems arising within boards and some practical solutions to deal with them. Session delivered via Zoom. Fee for non-profits = €70.

The Role of the Company Secretary – Online
(10am to 12.00pm – Thurs, 24th Jun 2021)

Learn about the practical and legal responsibilities and liabilities of the Company Secretary of a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG). This workshop is aimed at Company Secretaries or anyone thinking of becoming a Company Secretary of a CLG. Session delivered via Zoom. Fee for non-profits = €70.

Garda Vetting Information Briefing – Online New

This briefing session aims to provide an understanding of the legal requirements of Garda vetting legislation and best practice in the safe recruitment of staff and volunteers. A Board/Trustee Governance Handbook Template has been developed by Carmichael as part of our ongoing efforts to support non-profit organisations. In developing this free handbook, Carmichael sought to reflect the principles and standards of the Charities Governance Code but it can be used by any non-profit organisation. This handbook is a template and it should be amended/tailored to reflect your own charity or other non-profit.
