Open to learning something new? Come to UCD in 2024-25

UCD Access and Lifelong Learning are excited to share with you our Lifelong, Open Learning and University Access programmes 2024-25. UCD has a long tradition of recognising the wider benefits of lifelong learning, which are reflected in our vibrant and engaging part-time programmes.

Lifelong Learning 2024-25

  • Choose from 60+ courses, taught by subject experts
  • Courses take place on campus in the evening or off-campus during the day
  • Classes will commence September 2024
  • Discounts available

This year we are celebrating 75 years of Lifelong Learning in UCD. We’d love for you to join us at one of our Free Taster Lectures from 20-22 August 2024. This will give you a taste of what our programme has to offer this autumn and also the opportunity to meet other learners.

Open Learning 2024-25

  • Open Learning fits around your schedule and gives you all the benefits of being a full-time student, without the full-time commitment.
  • You can take a combination of modules for interest only (audit - €375 per 5 credit module) or you can complete the course assessment (credit - €500 per 5 credit module). Our application is open for 2024-25.
  • You can accumulate credits towards an award, either a Certificate in Open Learning (NFQ Level 7 - 30 credits) or a Diploma in Open Learning (NFQ Level 7 - 60 ECTs).
  • Our Open Learning Progression Pathways Programme is designed for those who wish to use Open Learning to progress to one of 16 degree programmes in UCD. Applications will open from 23rd August 2024.

University Access 2024-25

The University Access courses are one-year, part-time courses designed to prepare adults, who may not have formal qualifications, for successful study at university.

These are Special Purpose Awards (Level 6) which equip students with the skills and confidence required to take the next step to selected degree courses at UCD.

We offer two University Access courses

  • Diploma in Access to Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences & Law – Access to AHSSL (Mature & Young Adult applicants)
  • Diploma in Access to Science, Engineering, Agricultural Science, Medicine, and Veterinary Medicine - SEAM+ (Mature only).

Mature (Applicants aged 22 years or over on Jan 1st, of the year they apply).

Young Adults who met the required Access Criteria (Applicants aged 21 years or younger on Jan 1st, of the year they apply).
