The Learning Curve Institute: Blended Learning - Trauma Informed Practice Training

Blended Learning: Trauma Informed Practice training

This Trauma Informed Practice training aims to help people working in the provision of care to become trauma aware. The programme does not train participants to become trauma therapists.

The purpose of this blended learning training is to start a conversation about how trauma and adversity affects and has affected those who use the services we provide and the appropriate responses we can implement and offer; to reflect on how others’ trauma experiences may affect those of us providing services – vicarious trauma and; to examine how we, as professionals, volunteers and peer workers, can embrace a trauma informed approach, including self-care, within our practice.

This workshop is delivered in two parts. Part 1 is delivered via e-learning and consists of 6 pre-recorded modules. Part 2 is a full day delivered live with the trainer remotely.

The pre-recorded modules are divided into six separate sessions, each approximately 30 minutes in length, which can be watched at a time that is convenient for the participant, ahead of the live training day.

The content in the pre-recorded modules will form the basis of the live training session where participants will be given opportunities to apply the theory to their practice.

The full day workshop is delivered live remotely on Zoom and will allow you to interact with your trainer and other participants in a virtual classroom where there will be time built in for skills practice, live discussion and question & answer sessions.

Participants should have some work experience. Suitable for: Therapists and Counsellors (please note: this is not designed for experienced therapists), early childhood Educators and Care Professionals and those working in Social Care, Youth and Family Care, Nursing Practitioners, Addiction Services and Homeless Agencies.

This training is also suitable for those working with or meeting service users including support staff, reception staff, canteen staff, managers, Board of Management etc.

Accreditation is pending for this workshop. Please check this web-page for updates.

“I really appreciated the experience of the trainer. He was very knowledgeable, but also linked the theory to practice. He frequently gave examples of situations demonstrating how you might approach them in a more trauma informed way. In addition to the theory, he demonstrated skills that I can try in practice. The examples of tools and language you can learn made the training much more effective in adjusting our practice to be Trauma Informed compared with training that is totally theory based. I feel we all went away looking at our service much more through the eyes of the client.”
