Participants Needed for Research Project

Information Sheet:

My name is Rachel and I am a Final Year Applied Psychology student in University College Cork. I am conducting a research project titled "Understanding experiences of spatial and social restrictions, due to COVID-19, among young people with physical disabilities".

This is a qualitative study where I hope to interview young people, with one or more physical disabilities, to understand their day-to-day experiences of COVID-19 restrictions. While there has been great coverage of many vulnerable groups’ issues with lockdown measures, the voice of young people deserves to be paid more attention to. The study is open to young people aged 18-25 years old with one or more physical/sensory disabilities (and/or chronic illness). Interviews are conducted online via MS Teams or Google Meet, audio-recorded, and last around 30-40 minutes.

Anyone who is interested in taking part or would like to know more about the study can contact me via email Rachel Atkins:

While I have no capacity to pay respondents for their participation, I will prepare a final report of the study which I will be happy to share with participants at the end of the project, should they wish to hear about the findings of this study.

The study has received ethical approval from the School of Applied Psychology Research Ethics Committee, University College Cork. This study is supervised by Dr. Marica Cassarino, School of Applied Psychology, University College Cork. Email
