The Housing Agency Research Support Programme 2020, Round 2

Call for proposals from organisations and researchers

The Housing Agency’s role is to promote the supply of housing to meet current and future needs and demand. It does this by being a centre of expert knowledge on housing, supporting housing policy development and implementing effective housing programmes in collaboration with key stakeholders.

Aims of the Research Support Programme

The Research Support Programme aims to fund projects which respond to key topical issues in housing and have the potential to impact on housing policy and practice.

Proposals in the following areas are particularly welcome:

  • Housing and Sustainability
  • Housing Affordability
  • Housing for those with a disability
  • Housing in the COVID-era
  • Planning for the housing we need
  • Innovations in Housing Management

It is still possible to submit proposals outside of the above themes. In the event that this round is oversubscribed, preference will be given to the themes above.

Nature of Support

The support the Agency provides to applicants may also be varied, from financial support to access to data in a user-friendly format. Financial support can contribute to activities such as literature reviews, policy reviews, best practice guides, policy evaluations and various primary research approaches depending on the setting. Financial support to any one application is unlikely to exceed €20,000 in this round, (including VAT). The Agency is open to joint funding of research projects with partnership organisations.

Application Process

Those wishing to apply for funding or other support can do so by completing an application form. Applicants are advised to consult the guidance document which provides further details on the programme.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 12 noon, Wednesday 4th November, 2020. Late applications will not be accepted.

Applications will be assessed by a panel in accordance with the scoring system outlined in the application form. Funding will be at the absolute discretion of The Housing Agency, but an appeals mechanism will be introduced for unsuccessful applications. Appeals will be accepted, in writing only, within 14 days of the notification of the outcome of the competition.
