The Digital Skills Trainer will be responsible for delivering basic digital skills in 1:1’s and short courses for learners aged 55+. The Digital Skills Trainer will support learners to gain the necessary starter level skills and knowledge that will help them to bridge the digital divide that is present for this generation. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to contribute to making a positive difference to people’s lives.

In 2007 we set up a community training initiative and began delivering digital skills training to people aged 55+. We currently deliver our Digital & Social Programme three times per year. This includes basic digital skills in 1:1’s and short courses, as well as social activities such as hobby courses, events, trips and movie nights.

The ideal candidate:

  • Needs to be a strong communicator with the ability to deliver basic digital skills training and communicate with older people in a calm, friendly and approachable manner.
  • Confident in dealing with a range of personality types.
  • Self-motivated, organised and enjoys being part of a dedicated team.

Experience:

  • Experience in confidently using digital devices such as smartphones and tablets, with the ability to provide basic training to older people on how they function. (Essential)
  • Experience of being motivational and supportive to individuals and groups. (Essential)
  • Experience working to support people in learning and development activities. (Desirable)

Additional Details:

  • All applicants will be shortlisted against the relevant criteria for the role
  • Applicants that are shortlisted for interview will be required to complete a 5-minute basic digital skills presentation during the interview.
  • Please note this role is supported under the Community Services Programme, via funding from the Department of Rural and Community Development which is administered by Pobal
  • The following employment exclusions apply to CSP co-funded posts:

An individual occupying a CSP supported post cannot simultaneously hold a Tús, Gateway, CE, RSS, or Jobs Initiative placement. The CSP contribution cannot be used to employ an individual once that individual reaches their 66th birthday. CSP employers/employees cannot avail of any other Government supported employment initiative/incentives e.g., JobsPath. These would be considered dual funding and are therefore ineligible.

Location: Terenure Enterprise Centre, 17 Rathfarnham Road, Dublin 6w

Hours: This is a part-time post, 20 hours per week excluding breaks Monday to Friday during the hours of 9am – 5pm.

Probation: This position is subject to the satisfactory completion of 6 months’ probation period. Probation may be extended at the discretion of management in line with company policy.

Salary: The gross rate of pay will be €14.50 per hour or €15,080.00/annum
