Location: Coolmine Lodge – CE Scheme

Reports to: CE Supervisor

Hours: 19.5 hours per week. Some out of hours work required.

Job Type: 12 Month Fixed Term

Salary: €259.50 per Week

Purpose: To work as part of a team, participating actively at all CE team meetings supporting the Ethos, Philosophy and Methodology of the Therapeutic Community Model.

Role Responsibilities: (Include, but not limited to)

  • To work as part of a team with regular and consistent communication, participating actively at all CE Team Meetings and supporting the Ethos, Philosophy and Methodology of the Therapeutic Community Model.
  • Report to your line manager for individual support, supervision and training reviews
  • To be actively engaged in continued personal development and training for the benefit of self, clients, management and organisation.
  • To respond positively and be open to reasonable requests from the service supervisor in order to ensure effective working relationships.
  • Ensure that the company’s health and safety policies and processes are being adhered to at all times.
  • Report any health and safety issues in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Highlight any potential health and safety issues you may foresee.
  • Ensure the companies Safeguarding and Protecting children policy is being strictly adhered to.
  • Ensure the health and safety of all customers by correcting technique and carrying our regular equipment checks.
  • Work in a group setting delivering / co-facilitating workshops on one or more of the following:

Music programmes and class delivery:

  • To plan, lead and deliver engaging and rewarding musical activities to clients such as but not limited to, drumming workshops, bodhran/guitar lessons, group/choral singing activities.
  • Combining musical activities with other art forms, ala Macnas template for example and work closely with Art Support worker in this capacity.
  • To be willing/able to use technology – zoom etc – to deliver lessons, where necessary..
  • Source instruments and grants to further Coolmine’s music scheme.
  • Motivate clients and CE Participants to engage in music and other art forms.
  • Regularly review, report and reflect upon classes, develop new ideas to ensure continuous improvement of the class programme and delivery.
  • Actively contribute to the personal development of clients.
  • Develop creative ideas to improve members’ experience of activities.

Fitness programmes and class delivery:

  • To plan, lead and deliver engaging and physical fitness activities to clients such as but not limited to, yoga, nature walks, full body movement, breathing exercises etc.
  • To be up to date with current fitness trends and implement into class routines.
  • Regularly review, report and reflect upon classes, develop new ideas to ensure continuous improvement of the class programme and delivery.
  • Actively contribute to the personal development of clients.
  • Develop creative ideas to improve members’ experience of activities.

Person Specification:

Eligibility to Work (Essential)

  • Must have a valid Irish Work Permit for the EU and Ireland.
  • Must be eligible for the Community Employment DSP Scheme

Experience (Desirable)

  • Previous Work experience
  • Interest in the Drug and Alcohol recovery sector.
  • Experience of working with the Social Inclusion care group including homeless, traveller, Roma and others.
  • Familiar with Community Services
  • Familiar with Mental Health services
  • Familiar with HSE Addiction services

Knowledge & Skills

  • Has excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Enjoys working with people, is approachable, and demonstrates warm and friendly mannerisms.
  • Is clear and explicit about professional and personal boundaries.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have a “can do” attitude and a positive solution focused approach to problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Committed to meeting the needs of excluded and marginalised people.
