Youth Homeless Drug Prevention Project Worker – Maternity Cover
Cork Simon Community works in solidarity with men and women who are homeless in Cork, offering housing and support in their journey back to independent living. We promote a socially just society and campaign for a society without homelessness.

Cork Simon Community are currently seeking applications for the position of Youth Homeless Drug Prevention Project Worker.
Purpose of the post:
Engagement with young people who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness & diversion to alternative options where appropriate. Engagement with young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and developing a care plan following an assessment of their needs in relation to physical health, mental health, accommodation, addiction issues, harm reduction, employment & training, meaningful use of time, financial issues, and social supports.
Some of the key duties of the roles include:
- Spend time on the streets and in the Housing Led Emergency Services to enable contact
- Refer to medical, mental health, addiction and treatment services and other services where appropriate
- Building a relationship based on respect, trust, and acceptance
- Compile initial assessments (as required) on health and well-being, accommodation, supports, finance
- Provide case management and care planning according to protocols agreed CLADTF/Cork City/County Council, to young people who are homeless and/or using Cork Simon Community Services
- Key work young people on the basis of agreed care plans
The ideal candidate for this post will have:
- Experience Working with addictions (young people using Drugs & Alcohol)
- Experience working in a care setting
- Experience Networking and sourcing resources suitable for young people
- Experience producing written information, booklets etc. suitable for young people
- Relevant Third Level Degree e.g. Social science/social care
- First Aid training
- Creative Problem Solver
