Business in The Community Ireland/ Irish Prison Service: Post in Training Unit, Mountjoy Prison
Business in The Community Ireland has, since 2007 received Dormant Accounts and Irish Prison Service funding towards the development of a Resettlement Mentoring programme for prisoners. Currently there are mentors assigned to support prisoners in the Cork and Castlerea prisons. We are now seeking applications from suitable candidates for the following post in the Training Unit, Mountjoy Prison
The post must be filled by 5th April initially for one year’s duration and will continue subject to funding.
Candidates for the post of mentor will have;
- A relevant third level qualification, while not essential is desirable
- One or more years experience of working with the target group
- Teamwork experience
- A good understanding of the Irish Criminal Justice System, prisoner resettlement and the desistance processes
- A good knowledge of community and voluntary groups
- A good general knowledge of semi-state and other agencies providing support or training services for marginalized groups
- Knowledge of the Irish employment market and training and employment opportunities.
Salary will be in the range of €33,770 - €41,791 depending on experience
