Vacancy: Advocate Fixed Term Contract in Limerick City

Youth Advocate Programmes (YAP) Ireland in partnership with young people, families and communities and using a strengths-based, intensive support model, keeps young people in their communities and out of care/custody.

It provides young people and their families with the opportunity to develop, contribute and be valued as assets so that communities have safe, proven effective alternatives to institutional placement.

YAP Ireland is looking to recruit a number of individuals to work with young people in the Limerick region. If you have a ‘never give up’ approach, are enthusiastic / creative, and work well with young people and you are available for up to 15 hours per week, email acoleman@yapireland.ie for an application form and Job Description. Advocate Person Specification
Essential

   1. Some experience of working with children and young people
   2. A nonjudgmental approach to working with young people displaying challenging behaviours
   3. A positive attitude towards children and young people and an ability to work from a strengths based perspective
   4. A knowledge / understanding of issues affecting young people
   5. Ability to clear the garda vetting process – i.e. no offence that would bar you from working with children and no current sentence
   6. A clean full driving license and own transport
   7. Available for at least 15 hours a week

Desirable
Previous experience of working / volunteering within a youth work setting
