Better Maths Programme: Volunteers Needed
The Education team of the Tolka Area Partnership would like to invite volunteers to work on a Better Maths Programme. This new initiative is aimed at 1st class children who are struggling with numeracy. Volunteers will be provided with the necessary training and support to assist targeted children. Volunteers will be asked to commit to three short sessions a week (times negotiable).
The pilot programme which begins in March 2010 and ends in early June 2010 aims to develop the following skills:
- Recognising all numbers between 0-20
- Counting to 20 (forwards and backwards in 2’s and 3’s)
- Addition
- Subraction
No previous experience in teaching is necessary as all training will be provided.
