E V O L U T I O N: Two Internships
E V O L U T I O N seeks two passionate, motivated global activists for 12-month internships to take charge of this new project to create an online “Planet Dashboard” that brings together all key global data on population growth, key resource levels oil, food, water, forests etc. to one place. The Dashboard also links to computer modeling programmes to allow the Earth Pilot to set a date in the future and navigate a course to achieve sustainability by that date. The two interns will work with the Peace Child International team of young people at the residential centre near Cambridge to develop the programme. Food, accommodation and pocket money will be paid.
The two roles are:
1. Project Manager:
Job Description: This young person will be a natural leader who will drive this project make it his/her own and see it through to successful completion, meeting deadlines, keeping within the budget constraints, hitting the targets in terms of applications received and team members recruited. S/he will meet regularly with the other Team members to set targets, check up on their progress, and supervise/guide their future planning and work programmes. S/he will report weekly to the Peace Child President, who is ultimately responsible for the success of the project. S/he will promote the project at conferences, meetings and to potential
sponsors and generally be the public face of the project and its youth leader.
2. Web Design Group Team Leader:
Job Description: This job is to design and construct the IT architecture of the Dashboard under guidance of professional mentors
and/or gaming consultants. S/he will also be responsible for recruiting, enthusing and supervising a team of young IT geniuses across Europe and around the World to take on the construction of different parts of the Dashboard working to design templates set up by Peace Child¹s in-house graphic designer (who will take responsibility for designing the look of the site. This young person will be a gaming enthusiast and be proficient in the key software programmes required for data processing and future scenario modeling. S/he will be a self-starter, able to work on their own and with a team, delegating parts of the task to others but maintaining consistency in the web architecture to allow future growth, translations etc. S/he will be fanatical about keeping abreast of the latest developments in web software and web apps. like the dashboard so that this initiative can draw on, and overtake where possible, other similar developments in the field.
