COPE Galway helps to Improve Quality of Life in a Home Of Your Own for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness by Supporting Home, Promoting Community & Reducing Isolation.

We are currently recruiting for two roles working in our Resettlement & Tenancy Support Service

Our Resettlement & Tenancy Support Service focuses on supporting people through their transition to independent living when moving out of homelessness. The service is delivered in a range of ways including regular home visits, appointments in the offices and public meeting places, and ongoing telephone contact.

Life Skills Support Worker

The focus of this role is on supporting clients of COPE Galway transitional and supported housing to develop the necessary life skills to enable them to sustain living independently and to further their independence skills so as to live safe and healthy lives in the community. These life skills span a range of areas including budgeting and home management, pursuing training and employment opportunities, coping skills and leisure skills and activities.

A detailed job description and person specification is available below but requirements include:

  • Third level qualification in Occupational Therapy, Community Development or Social Studies/Care
  • A working knowledge of homeless, housing legislation and regulations, and an up to date knowledge of best practice in the area of homeless services
  • A minimum of two years full time experience of working in the area of homelessness and/or community development
  • Experience of one to one work with people with complex needs relating to addictions and/or mental health

Contract: 2 year fixed term

Hours: 19.5 hours per week – some evening work

Salary: 35k per annum pro rata

Part Time Resettlement and Tenancy Sustainment Worker

This role is being put in place to support the work of the Resettlement and Tenancy Support service. During this period the Resettlement and Tenancy Support team will oversee the initial period of the operation of additional accommodation spaces for a number of single person households. As part of the Resettlement and Tenancy Sustainment team this person will work directly with a case load of single person clients.

A detailed job description and person specification is available below but requirements include:

  • Third level qualification in Social Studies/Care, Community Development or equivalent
  • A working knowledge of homeless and housing legislation and regulations and an up to date knowledge of best practice in the area of homeless services
  • A minimum of two years full time experience of working in the area of homelessness.
  • Experience of advocating for clients with local services and supports
  • Experience of interagency working with a range of housing, welfare and health

Contract: Fixed Term

Hrs of Work: 19.5 hours per week – some weekend and evening cover required with this post
