Voluntary Service International (VSI) is the Irish branch of Service Civil International, a worldwide peace movement that began in 1920. We work to promote peace, social justice, sustainable development and intercultural understanding. We do this through volunteering activities internationally and in Ireland. We also work to achieve our aims through non-formal educational activities.
Job purpose and context:
VSI works with all young people in Ireland including those who are vulnerable and marginalised such as young people who are experiencing poverty or the care system, young people with disabilities, migrants and asylum-seekers.
The Youth Worker will co-ordinate, support, develop and administer VSI activities and projects for young people in Ireland and Europe.
The successful applicant will have a Youth Work qualification, preferably to degree level, experience of working with vulnerable young people and group-work and facilitation skills. The position is based in the VSI office in Dublin with some national and international travel.
This position is temporary for 6 months from April/May 2017 with a possibility of extension and is full-time. The Youth Worker salary is negotiable. The successful candidate will be subject to Garda Vetting and reference checks.
