The Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL) is inviting applications for the posts of
Senior Research and Policy Officer and
INCLO Information Rights Project Manager
The Irish Council for Civil Liberties (ICCL) is the foremost civil liberties organisation in Ireland with a proud record of defending human rights and civil liberties over forty years. Ireland is at a critical moment for the protection of human rights. Global political developments present grave new risks to rights and freedoms. The BREXIT vote in the United Kingdom and attacks on the UK Human Rights Act pose very direct threats to the protection of human rights on the island of Ireland. New dangers are also emerging with the potential of new technologies to compromise individual rights.
This is a moment when defence of our hard-fought human rights protections is more important than ever, and ICCL has set out a new strategic direction and has identified key policy issues where ICCL will lead important achievements in the protection of human rights over the next four years across the themes of Defending Justice; Promoting Equality: and Strengthening Human Rights. To achieve our strategic objectives, ICCL is recruiting a number of new policy and development positions.
The first phase of this process will see the recruitment of a Senior Research and Policy Officer, who will lead ICCL’s research and policy work for the next phase in ICCL’s development. The Senior Research and Policy Officer will be an established expert in human rights and civil liberties, with a strong record of strategic leadership and policy development.
At this time, we are also recruiting the position of Information Rights Project Manager for the International Network of Civil Liberties Organisations (INCLO). This 12-month post will be responsible for developing the international programme of work of INCLO (of which ICCL is a member) in the area of information rights. The Project manager will be located primarily in ICCL, but will also be located for part of this period with the Legal Resource Centre in South Africa.
Job Description & Person Specification and Application Forms for both posts are attached below.
The closing date for applications for both position is Monday 3rd July at 5pm. Over the coming months ICCL will also be recruiting a number of further positions, and applicants may be considered for additional posts.
Applications should be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org
ICCL is an equal opportunities employer.
