Crosscare Links and Advice Network (CLAN) is a peer support tenancy sustainment service for people who are moving on from homeless services. This is done through 1-1 mentoring, social clubs and befriending. The intern will gain practical experience in supporting and mentoring people who have experienced homelessness to help them to live independently.
Main Duties involve:
- 1-1 mentoring,
- home visits,
- helping people move in and set up home,
- Providing information and support,
- managing the weekly social club,
- Facilitating the men’s and women’s group.
- Work Experience in Crosscare Homeless Service
Training Provided in:
- One to one work with clients,
- Group facilitation,
- Active Listening,
- Policies and Procedures,
- Managing Challenging Behaviour,
- Suicide Intervention.
- Supporting clients to deal with substance use
The internship is open to anyone over 18, and we encourage applications from people with a personal experience of homelessness, addiction, or other social services. We ask that all applicants are clean from drugs and alcohol addiction for at least 2 years and living independently for at least 1 year.
Applicants should be open to learning, willing to show compassion, be passionate about helping others, empathetic and non-judgemental.
This internship is a good stepping stone for anyone who is interested in working in homeless services and is seeking experience. Many of our past interns have gone on to study Social Care in B.I.T and D.I.T or are working in Crosscare’s homeless services.
We are looking for people who can commit to 20hrs a week, for a period of at least 9 months.
