Foróige: Volunteers Needed!

Foróige is seeking volunteers in Castlerea, Boyle and Roscommon Town.

Foróige is recruiting for volunteers to inspire young people to assist in youth café volunteers and afterschool clubs (Availability on Monday to Friday 3:30pm-5pm).  Pick a day that works best for you!!

Being a Foróige volunteer involves becoming part of a team which provides the framework for a fun, dynamic, positive space for young people.  Time Giver. Fun Provider. Guide. Mentor. Facilitator. Listener. Motivator. Leader.

Foróige provides opportunities for our Leaders to contribute to their communities by making a positive difference to young people in their locality.  Foróige provides training and enables volunteers to gain personal and professional development experience working in a youth work setting.  Volunteers will also develop leadership and facilitation skills and become part of a nationwide network of volunteer Leaders.

Applicants must be 18 years and over.  Vetting by the Garda National Vetting Bureau is required.  Induction Training and support will be provided by Foróige.

ABOUT FORÓIGE:

The purpose of Foróige is to enable young people to involve themselves consciously and actively in their own development and in the development of society.  Foróige achieves its purpose through community based, carefully structured learning activities embedded in an innovative curriculum.

Foróige was established in 1952 and has grown to become one of Ireland's largest and strongest youth development organisations.  Foróige works with almost 50,000 young people across Ireland; 1 in 10 young people in Ireland are involved with Foróige.  Foróige engages with over 5,500 volunteers nationwide who help us achieve our goals and objectives for our young people.

Foróige's range of activities and services include our volunteer led Foróige Clubs, Youth Cafés, Neighbourhood Youth Projects, Drug Prevention and Education Projects, Youth Crime Diversion Projects and the Big Brother Big Sister (BBBS) One to One Mentorship Programme.

Foróige deliver a range of youth centred education programmes, all evidence based and targeting personal development and skills set, essential for navigating through teenage years into adulthood and the world of work.  These education programmes include the Leadership for Life Programme, the “Be Happy Be Healthy” (Health and Wellbeing Programme), “Real U” Relationships Explored and Life Uncovered (Relationships and Sexual Health Programme), National Citizenship Programme and Youth Entrepreneurship.
