LYCS and LASC presents
Indigenous Voices & the Struggle for Natural Resources
10am-2pm, Tuesday 31 January 2017
Dublin Venue to be announced.
Register on Eventbrite.
A free half-day workshop for community leaders, activists, environmentalists, artists, singers and anyone interested in development, culture and sustainability. We will focus on music and voice and other forms of cultural expression as a means of exploring the belief systems of native and grassroots people from around the world. You don’t have to be a singer or musician to take part. Our focus will be especially on what indigenous voices can teach us about an alternative model of development and a more harmonious relationship with the earth. We will look at examples of conflict between ordinary communities and big corporations and the policies behind increasing corporate power. Finally we will discuss and share information about pathways of change, from ways of living more lightly to direct action to spiritual change and subtle activism.
