National Lunar Walk Series in Aid of Diabetes Ireland

Lunar Walk Image

Since 1967, Diabetes Ireland is the national charity dedicated to helping people with diabetes. In Ireland currently approximately 190,000 people have Diabetes with 1 in 3 adults nationally knowing someone who has the condition.

To continue our work we have many fundraising activities such as National Lunar Walk Series. This 20km walk under the May Full Moon takes place on May 25th beginning from the Rochestown Park Hotel at 9pm. This event may interest  groups or individuals as something different and engaging to do... all while raising much needed funds for this worthy charity.

The History of Activelink and Community Exchange

Community Exchange started in October 1999 as a monthly e-mail bulletin aiming at providing a communication channel for groups and individuals involved or interested in the work of community and voluntary organisations in Ireland.

At the time, there was no other online forum where people could find out and/or exchange information and news about the voluntary sector in Ireland and we were hoping that over time, people would find the bulletin a useful environment for sharing information, and for actively contributing to its contents.

In 2001 we set up a website for Community Exchange and Activelink, in order to provide a professional online communications hub where Community and Voluntary groups, NGOs, Charities and the Non-Profit Sector in Ireland could:

  • promote their work / activities / campaigns;
  • advertise vacancies and volunteering opportunities;

We continue to provide weekly e-mail bulletins for subscribers who prefer to get the information delivered to their computers.
